The Right to Information (RTI) team of the Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI) has been offering its Help Desk Service for Journalists, supporting newsrooms and media professionals in filing information requests, filing appeals and briefing the basic aspects of the act. As part of this initiative, the team conducts newsroom visits to aware journalists on the practical applications of RTI.
On December 11th, 2024, the RTI team successfully completed a newsroom visit to Daily Mirror, where 24 participants attended. The session was conducted by Ms. Shalani Fernando, who shared insights into the uses and benefits of RTI, enhancing participants’ understanding of how to leverage this tool effectively in their journalistic work.
