As a result on 20<sup>th<\/sup> July, the residents of Madunagala sent an RTI application to Suriyawewa Divisional Secretariat.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Madunagala is an area which encounters wild elephants. The villagers face many difficulties when the street lights do not function. After five days of the application, the lights were repaired.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cMadunagala junction is a place which many people gather for their day to day activities. Although we informed Suriyawewa Divisional Secretariat no action was taken to restore. Hence we sent a right to information application. Within a few days, streetlights were restored. We understand Right to Information act is definitely a strength to villages like ours.
