The purpose of dedicating such a day is to make citizens aware of their Constitutional right to access information from public authorities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To symbolize this day, a session on the importance of the Media in utilizing the recently enacted Right to Information (RTI) Act was delivered by the guest speaker Ms. Namini Wijedasa, Assistant Editor, <i>the Sunday Times. <\/i> She shared her experience in gathering information using the RTI Act and disseminating the information for the public benefit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">SLPI also launched a Right to Information song on Social Media through its RTI Sri Lanka Facebook page as part of its continued efforts to promote and bring awareness to the public of the RTI Act of Sri Lanka.
